What Can I Do? - Pray We may not be used to thinking of prayer as a "strategic action"! And there is much we don't understand about the way in which it works. But we do know that prayer is essential to our spiritual renewal. Prayer is the opening of our hearts are open to God's heart; the submission of our wills to God's will. Intercessory prayer happens when we draw other people into God's presence and ask his blessing upon them. The book is designed to help you pray for global justice. We do not go to prayer that we may use God but that he may use us. We trust him to use our prayer as he wills in the extension of his blessing. And we trust him further to make us, through the discipline and training of prayer, more effective instruments of his will. And prayer for one another will build us up into a fellowship of love, the deepest of all blessings, from which much else will flow. (Robert Llewellyn) You can find prayers for personal and group use on the websites of Christian Aid, CAFOD and Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation by following these links. Micah Challenge asks supporters to pray for global justice at 9am (local time) each week - and posts prayer requests each week online. We beg you, Lord, to help and defend us. Deliver the oppressed, pity the insignificant, raise the fallen, show yourself to the needy, heal the sick, bring back those who have gone astray, feed the hungry, lift up the weak, take off the prisoners’ chains. May every nation come to know that you alone are God, that Jesus Christ is your Child, that we are your people, the sheep that you pasture. Amen. (Clement of Rome, c100AD)
