What Can I Do? - Give On average rich countries currently give 0.25% of their gross national income to development assistance; the goal is to increase this to 0.7%, of which over 0.5% goes to the MDGs. Giving, as an individual and as a church, can make a real difference to global poverty. And if Christians give at least 0.7% of their income to development assistance, we have the integrity to demand that our governments follow suit. Licensed to Give - just remember the "007 rule" (Giving = Income x .007) The book addresses questions of how to give effectively - and our list of web links includes the sites of Christian development organisations with a track record of effective action. Global Giving connects individual and institutional donors directly to social and economic development projects, as well as environmental causes, around the world. In America, Charity Navigator is a website which functions as a "watchdog" for charities. In Britain, The Giving Campaign website still provides information on how to make your giving tax-effective.
